(ABC) Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) program. Awarded to less than two percent of contractors nationally, Platinum level recipients are eligible for National Safety Excellence and National Safety Merit Awards, bestowed annually to recognize contractors exhibiting a commitment to jobsite safety and whose safety performance and programs are judged to be exemplary.

Achieving the STEP Platinum level involves meeting stringent safety criteria, including a minimum 20 Key Components score, OSHA 10-hour construction training, zero fatalities and catastrophic incidents in the past three years and site-specific safety and health programs. Recipients must have achieved a minimum of Gold or Platinum level recognition during the previous year.
